My Daffodil Darling…
My daffodil darling,
The angel in my garden,
Your voice whispered a story,
My daffodil darling,
Feathers maybe falling,
But you will find your glory.
I remember you laying there on the grass, like an angel and the scent of flower,
I came and laid next to you, your finger stroked my cheek, I'll never forget that power,
The power that a woman took my life, give me a feeling of love and trust,
Edinburgh zoo, a place I knew life had changed, a place when you were a must.
The kiss of the blinding sun, dry but succulent lips, my finger raised your chin, how sensory,
Together, a dream that we thought became reality, the smell of freshly cut grass, gave me a memory,
A memory instilling a forever, a feeling of love, that I'll always remember,
As we laid with the daffodils, blue skies gave the possibility that I had a passenger.
My daffodil darling,
The angel in my garden,
Your voice whispered a story,
My daffodil darling,
Feathers maybe falling,
But you will find your glory.
The empty roads we left behind, children in the back, driving through the countryside,
We laughed, we argued, I should've took that left or right, but we were reborn to a new life,
A life that carried smiles, even though sometimes tears, for happiness? we just had to look at our daughter's eyes,
Now, even though years have past, there still comes a time when it all comes rushing back, and like a silly old fool, I cry.
We had picnics in the park, fingers entwined as we talked, we even watched the sunset, laying a blanket on the beach,
As time goes by, the wind echoes your name as the leaves brush past, sadly my darling, those daffodils are out of reach...
