Embrace The Youth?

Pt. 1

Embrace The Youth?

How can one embrace a society of youth?

It's a liquid poison spilling no truth,

Transmitted diseases over Netflix and chill,

University degrees drank away at will,

How can one embrace a society of youth?

Snapchat, Facebook, Insta for fake proof!

If there's not a selfie, then it didn't happen,

What's with the puppy dog ears flapping?

How can one embrace a society of youth?

Fear of changing gender, heads in a noose,

A sad reality in today's mental health,

Love, is only our real personal strength,

How can one embrace a society of youth?

20 chicken nuggets, where's all the fruit?

Starting out to work, already crippled in debt,

They've practically had sex before they've even met,

How can one embrace a society of youth?

We are not perfect, the strings are too loose,

Unrealistic reality lived on a smartphone,

For a like or comment they're selling their soul,

Where is the change going?

Unknown seeds in utter ruin,

I was young in a different era,

But, was I a healthy dreamer?

One thing I do know,

I was still a learning soul...

Pt. 2

Embrace The Youth?

I must apologize to the hungry and the wise,

For they too, are a generation willing to surprise,

There is a society trying to care for the world,

As a pessimist on earth, it's never to late to learn,

I must apologize to the hungry and the wise,

In a classroom or library they spend all their time,

Looking up to role models that are worthwhile,

Not following sheep and wanting a Hollywood smile,

I must apologize to the hungry and the wise,

They too want a future that's bright for their child,

We must not stereotype, box up or generalise,

Instead nurture and encourage the new way of life,

I must apologize to the hungry and the wise,

Others are different, and free speech is fine,

Let's celebrate what the future can hold,

Let's flourish, be brave about the unknown,

There's hope!

There's life!

The future?

It can be bright...

Let's build a bridge from the young to the old,

It doesn't have to be a generation thing, or feel so cold,

So raise your Bunsen burners!

Here's to the younger learners…
